Development programmes-IQAC

IQAC discusses its opinions on fostering quality assurance with the Governing Body and College Council and many such suggestions were duly considered and approved for implementation. The following list gives an overview of such plans being implemented :

Faculty Oriented Decisions:

  • Promoting research interest and raising the number of faculty pursuing research
  • Encouraging faculty to apply for Major/Minor Research Projects.
  • Promoting collaborations among faculty with institutions of national and international repute.
  • More participation in Orientation/ Refresher programmes held at  ASCs.
  • Motivating faculty to explore opportunities by way of innovative initiatives of Higher Education Council such as FLAIR.
  • Enhancing number of seminars/ workshops attended by faculty as well as paper presentations and research publications. (Table 2.5)
  • Motivating faculty to participate in Orientation /Refresher/ Seminar/ Workshops/ Internships outside Kerala.
  • Encouraging departments to conduct national seminars.
  • Inspiring and supporting faculty to engage in consultancy services
  • Promoting utilization of faculty expertise for the benefit of the academia and society.
  • Maintenance of Teacher’s Performance Record- Each faculty member maintains a diary wherein teaching plan, output generated, details of teaching/ practical hours engaged, number of days of leave, paper publications etc are clearly depicted.

Student Oriented Decisions

  • Orientation/ Induction programmes for first year UG students
  • Career Guidance or Finishing School Programmes
  • Obtaining Inspire Fellowship for science departments
  •  Associating with ASAP (Additional Skill Acquisition Programme) of Higher Education Council
  • Instituting SSP (Student Support Programme), CEK and  WWS (Walk With a Scholar) programme in the College
  • Online lectures from prestigious academies such as NPTEL, Khan Academy etc for exposing students to recent developments in teaching learning
  • Adopting ICT teaching methodology like C-Map.
  • Including peer reviews in seminar presentations.
  • Conducting Yoga Training
  • Inspiring students to apply for Internships- four students, two from Science departments and two from Commerce Department were selected for internships during the last five years.
  • Starting DCA (Diploma in Computer Application) course.

Institution Oriented Decisions

  • Commencing Self Financing UG and PG courses.
  • Availing grants from UGC and major scientific institutions of India such as DST/FIST, DBT, KSCSTE etc.
  • Institutionalizing the functioning of the Career & Placement Cell
  • Becoming an examination center for NIOS.
  • Setting up Deva Matha Archeological Museum
  • Library up gradation(computerization)
  • Setting up Library website
  • Modifying the layout of the Library to facilitate better service
  • Setting up of separate cabins for research scholars and faculty at the library
  • Access to INFLIBNET
  • Wi-Fi availability
  • Software up gradation in College Office
  • Construction of Women’s Hostel
  • Renovation of College Auditorium
  • Rebuilding lavatory for students
  • Construction of sports track
  • Conducting Mega Alumni meet in the Jubilee year.
  • Rejuvenating class rooms with Smart Boards
  • Installing more computers in the College.
